ACCESS has demonstrated its technological prowess and innovative spirit by showcasing its groundbreaking projects at a series of prestigious events across Asia and Europe.
Beginning with the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, ACCESS proudly received two Silver Awards for its pioneering work. The first award-winning project, AC-Transformer, is a transformer AI accelerator designed for road scene segmentation in autonomous driving and robotics applications. The second award-winning project, AC-Copilot, is an automated toolchain for neural network and hardware accelerator co-design and co-optimization.
ACCESS continued to showcase its technological advancements at the InnoEX exhibition, Asia's premier platform for cutting-edge innovations. ACCESS Research Team presented three remarkable projects: the high-performance "Sense-Memory-Compute" Collaborative Brain Chip (NiM) for edge-side medical applications, the AC-Transformer chip for road scene segmentation, and the AC-Copilot, an application-algorithm-hardware co-design flow and toolchain for an elderly health monitoring system.
Beside the global innovation ecosystem, strengthening the connection with students, researchers, potential investors, and industry stakeholders is also important for the technology development. ACCESS participated in the HKUST Unicorn Day, a premier gathering of innovators, industry leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs in Hong Kong. At this event, the center highlighted two of its key research achievements: the high energy-efficient edge chips and systems for large AI models (AC-Transformer) and the hardware accelerator for financial computing (AC-CVXPY). These projects exemplify ACCESS' commitment to driving technological advancements and fostering collaborations that shape the future of innovation.
In addition, the students’ delegation from the HKUST School of Engineering (SENG) Summer Camp visited ACCESS on 23 Jul 2024 (Tue) and explored the AI technologies for advanced chip/ hardware design. During the visit, ACCESS’ Principal Researchers introduced the research projects in the areas of AI for Healthcare and Image Processing. The visit enriched the students' understanding of AI chip developments and Hong Kong's innovation ecosystem, supporting ACCESS' mission to nurture research talents in this thriving global industry.
Through its participation in these events, ACCESS has engaged with a diverse audience, generating inspiring discussions and exchanging valuable insights. As a multi-disciplinary research center under the InnoHK initiative of the HKSAR Government, ACCESS continues to push the boundaries of innovation, solidifying its position as a leading force in the technology research and development landscape.
