ACCESS Hosts Delegation Visit from KAIST, Fostering Global Collaboration in AI Chip Development

2025-12-15

AI Chip Center for Emerging Smart Systems (ACCESS) hosted a delegation from the renowned Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) on 8 December 2025. KAIST aimed to engage in academic exchange and share R&D experiences with the ACCESS research team in areas such as data analysis algorithms and FPGA neural network accelerators.

The delegation, comprising professors, postdoctoral researchers, PhD candidates, and master's students from School of Electrical Engineering, was warmly welcomed by the Center's representatives. The visitors were introduced to the Center's core research directions, innovative trends, and technology transfer accomplishments. The research team then shared the ACCESS advancements in the "Key Algorithm Acceleration Architecture Technology for Genomic Data Analysis" and the "FPGA Neural Network Accelerator Generation by Mixed-Integer Geometric Programming." The KAIST faculty and students expressed keen interest in the Center's latest progress in high-performance data processing, engaging in enlightening discussions with the research team.

Furthermore, the delegation had the opportunity to directly experience the Center's research achievements during a tour of ACCESS laboratory. They gained valuable insights into the Center's cutting-edge work in AI healthcare applications, co-design toolchain design, AC-Transformers models, and other frontier technologies. The KAIST students demonstrated strong interest, actively participating in discussions and deepening their understanding of AI chip design and applications.

ACCESS remains committed to cultivate outstanding research talent through diverse avenues and to establish design technologies for novel data-centric computing paradigms supporting a wide range of AI applications; and to elevate Hong Kong’s position as a major player on the world stage in AI chip and system design.
