ACCESS Showcases Breakthrough AI Innovations at ICCAD Expo 2025

2025-11-27

AI Chip Center for Emerging Smart Systems (ACCESS) demonstrated groundbreaking advances in AI chip technology at the 2025 Chengdu-Chongqing Integrated Circuit Development Forum & the 31st International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD Expo 2025). The event took place from November 20 to 21, 2025, at the Western International Expo City in Chengdu, Sichuan, bringing together global leaders in semiconductor technology, research institutions, and industry representatives.

During the ICCAD Expo 2025, ACCESS highlighted three cutting-edge technological achievements:

  1. Ultra-high Energy Efficiency AI Accelerator for Portable Healthcare Devices: Addressing critical healthcare disparities, ACCESS has created a breakthrough portable AI retinal screening system for early detection of diabetes- and hypertension-related eye diseases. The device incorporates a custom-designed low-power AI chip featuring algorithm-architecture co-optimization, enabling accurate, network-independent diagnostics with professional-grade reliability. This solution specifically targets accessibility challenges in rural and underserved communities, providing rapid screening with complete data privacy protection and eliminating the need for specialized medical infrastructure.
  2. Digital Compute-In-Memory (DCIM) Enabled Portable Genome Analysis Prototype: ACCESS has pioneered a transformative approach to AI chip design with its DCIM technology, which physically integrates memory and computing units to dramatically enhance energy efficiency and processing speed. The center developed AutoDCIM, the industry's first dedicated EDA tool for DCIM circuit design, streamlining development and accelerating commercialization. This innovation powers a portable genomic analyzer that delivers laboratory-grade DNA testing in resource-limited settings, winning the prestigious "Gold Medal with Jury’s Congratulations" at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva.
  3. Real-Time Fitness Movement Analysis and Posture Correction Powered by AI Chips: Leveraging a customized AI chip and edge computing, ACCESS has addressed latency and privacy issues in smart fitness applications. By transforming reference movements into keypoint feature vectors, the system conducts real-time posture matching and differential analysis. All data is processed locally, with latency under 50 milliseconds, eliminating any need for network transmission. Post-exercise evaluations offer comprehensive scoring and fluidity analyses applicable to diverse fitness modalities, ensuring privacy and precise, real-time personalized fitness guidance.

These innovations underscore ACCESS leadership in advancing AI chip architecture and design methodologies, demonstrating its commitment to fostering industry-academia collaboration in the semiconductor sector.
